THE CLASH WAS A SMASH!

Twenty-two teams nominated for the for RedCity's inaugural Capalaba Central 3x3 Clash. The event was held on top of the eastern carpark at Capalaba Central. Set up took a couple of hours on Saturday night to barricade the carpark and roll in the hoops. There were a few anxious moments trying to follow the instructions to lay down the FIBA 3x3 court. It was like putting together a giant jigsaw puzzle. The set up team soon had it sorted and when completed Angela Fiddes was the first to score a basket on the new court!

Come Sunday morning mother nature turned on some beautiful spring weather for games to start at 9.00am. The location seemed to be made for a 3x3 event! The DJ was pumping out the beats providing an enjoyable vibe and there was a cool breeze all day with plenty of shade under the carpark sails. Aussie at Capalaba provided a VIP lounge where players could gather between games and they also provided some sunscreen and sunglasses in the show bags (full of other goodies) that Capalaba Central Shopping Centre management kindly gave to each member, of each team.

There were some great competitions but the U13 girls division had some of the best contests. "Tueddes" fought through the round games to finish on top and to go straight into the final, while the "South Sea Cuzzies" won their semi final over "Crusaders" to match up against "Tueddes".

The final was point for point with "Tueddes" getting the win by the narrowest of margins 11-10! Congratulations Mia Teunis, Lily Teunis, Ella Fiddes and Eden Cooper!
