LionHeart Academy to Start in February!

We are excited to announce the appointment of our new Director of Skills Development, Carl Forbes.
Carl will be heading up our brand new LionHeart Academy which will focus on talent identification and the development of our players towards elite pathways. These pathways will include our junior representative teams and our elite senior programs such as QSL and NBL1. Players will also have the opportunity to pursue International pathways through high school and college in the USA.
Carl has joined us at RedCity Roar this year after spending the last 10 years assisting young athletes across SEQ in developing their skills on and off the court. He has assisted 100’s of young players in developing their game and pursuing college scholarships in the USA. He is excited to join our association and we are looking forward to seeing the impact he can have on our players and our association.
As a talent identification and development program, the LionHeart Academy will look to provide opportunity to our most promising players who display the desire and potential to excel. The program will run in the early mornings with a key focus on developing our culture and our player’s skills, in line with our style of play documents and our vision for the future as an association.
The selection process for players for our first intake will start with our U12 & U14 representative trial this weekend.
The program will kick off in February 2021 on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday mornings.
Please join us in welcoming Carl to the Roar family!

Website Update!

RedCity Roar has made a couple of updates to the “Menu” section to our website.

A “Judiciary” subheading has been added in the “About” section. This page has references to our “Codes of Behavior” expected for all members, reference to our “Values” within our strategic plan and a summary of offences and penalties from the Association’s adopted by-laws around the judiciary process.

Our referees and court controllers also have access to our Tribunal Report Form on this page.

The other update  is a “RedCity Roar Member Incident Report” form, for our members to flag problems/issues and offer suggestions to problems. This can be found in the “Contact” section of the Menu.

Building our Culture through Positive Communications

“RedCity 🦁 prides itself on respect, teamwork and inclusion. Any and all forms of bullying, racism or attempts to ostracise and exclude people from enjoying our “small town” association will be met with ZERO TOLERANCE as we increase our attention toward this.” Jason Fiddes – President RedCity Roar Basketball Association Inc.
On the back of the recent post from our President regarding our culture, the Association has approached some community leaders within their professional fields to help build and shape the behaviours of our members to reflect the following values from our Strategic Plan:
🏀 WE PUT PEOPLE BEFORE PERFORMANCE.
The wellbeing of people is more important than our success.
🏀 WE TRAIN AS IF OUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT.
We achieve success by training hard and not taking short cuts.
🏀 WE COMPETE UNTIL THE VERY END.
We give 100% at all times, in all places, and in every situation.
🏀 WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER.
Our success requires the support of volunteers.
🏀 WE TREAT OTHERS THE WAY WE WANT TO BE TREATED.
People of all backgrounds, lifestyles, and positions are valued.
🏀 WE PROVIDE SOLUTIONS TO OUR PROBLEMS.
Suggestions not accusations will lead to solutions.
Part of this process is the Judiciary System which is unfortunately needed when our members overstep the line. We will be introducing individuals from our judiciary panel over the next few weeks.
Please welcome Kelli Hutton to our team! 🤩

Covid Update!

Getting closer!

Lifting of restrictions has been brought forward from June 12 to 12.00 noon today!

We are hopeful we can return to the courts very soon.

We are waiting on further clarification through Basketball Queensland’s discussions with the Queensland Government and our venue owners as to the number of participants allowed per venue and per court.

When we know where the goal posts are, we will be ready to go with compliance, to ensure the safety of our members and their families.

What to expect:

  • Limited numbers per court or venue (social distancing)
  • Non contact activities only
  • Must bring own basketball and sanitize ball and hands on entry and exit
  • Separate entry and exit points for venues/courts
  • No entry if unwell
  • Sign in/sign out
  • Use of amenities restricted
  • A Bio Security Officer to ensure compliance
  • Change over period between activities

Thanks for your patience!
